Gusty November!
This is the month where the wind howls around my house (and through it, if someone opens a door!) It makes me want to settle in with a steaming hot mug of absolutely anything, and work on projects. Right now I'm halfway through a 1200 yd. sweater, working on sets of mugrugs, cute little squares of felt with smiling cartoony sheep on them, and planning special felt for Babu Shoes up in Eugene. We've received an influx of gorgeous yarns from our hand spinners, (always so tempting to me personally!) and some absolutely stunning handwoven yardage from two weavers. The Christmas ornaments are beginning to sell like hotcakes again, and we're gearing up for a storewide fiber sale in December, making sure we're well stocked with everything from raw wool, and washed wool locks to fine wool rovings. My sheep are looking very nice, the torrential rains that come with our 85 mph winds have cleaned and fluffed their wool, this is the time of year they look like show sheep. They're gathering around the back fence gate, hoping I'll throw them grain when I feed the chickens. Since they're all fat and the grass is still growing well, and we've had no grass killing frosts yet, they'll have to wait. I usually give in around Thanksgiving and start shoving store food at them. And for you non-farm folks, yes, it's a fact, chickens do not like 85 mph gusts of wind. Picture an inside out umbrella... with a beak where the handle would be...
